You would think it’s just about the animals. It’s not. I love creating jobs now. And here we are, building a 34,000 square foot building. We’re going to fill it up with a lot of fun, a lot of employees, a lot of jobs, a lot of dogs, and a lot of people that love animals. My name is Jeni Mather. I’m the president and founder of JM Pet Resort. Where your pet is a part of our family. I was coming right out of college, I was a dog trainer to make extra money. I grew up with animals. I knew I wanted to do something with animals. I read about doggy daycare. It had just started in California. I thought it was a good idea. We started in 1998, fast forward a couple years, the daycare had grown. It had really caught on. And then we trademarked our program to Play Trained Doggy Daycare, which is a structured program where dogs learn while they’re playing. Fast forward a few years later, things were going well, we probably had about 20 to 30 employees. But we had outgrown our building. So then I went to see Dan Trout. He was warm and welcoming. I said, “Let’s talk about this great idea I have.” Jeni came to the Bank looking for financing. She had a tremendous plan for growth. She had been very successful to that point, but wanted to have her own building. He made the process easy. We went from an idea on a table, to “how can we make this happen?” We made the offer, we built the building. The last 10 years we’ve grown and now we’re going to increase our building thanks to the Bank.Jenny’s business now is in another expansion mode. She’s expanding her structure, putting a second floor on the building and expanding the footprint. You think you know how massive something’s going to be. You say 34,000 square feet and then as everything starts to come together, it is absolutely satisfying and crazy and exciting and stressful. Because it’s actually happening. She’s been successful, I’m sure she’ll continue to be successful in anything that she tries, because of her dedication and her true passion for what she loves doing. He completely trusted and supported us in taking that next step, and I’ll be forever grateful. My business is local. I live local. My bank’s local. I couldn’t have done it without Mutual Bank. .
