Stop holding your dog back at the front door or anywhere else. But let me give you a perfect example of what a lot of folks do is usually when somebody comes to the front door their dog is barking like crazy, they’ll grab the dogs flat buckle collar or whatever they’ve got on and they hold the dog back. It physically possibly works but what you’re doing is you’re actually getting the dog agitated and they’ll want to pull harder against the pressure. If you’ve ever seen a protection dogs or sport dogs that’s actually how we get them to bark and lunge and like, it looks like they’re about to kill somebody. It’s because we put leash pressure on them, whether it’s on a flat buckle collar or a harness, we hold them back, they get very, very frustrated and maybe we physically can remove them but trust me next time somebody comes to that door they’re going to work even harder.
